Working definition. Structure is the organisation beneath events: the relations, boundaries, dependencies, and rules that make certain outcomes repeatable.
Inherited meaning
Architecture gives structure physical form; linguistics, anthropology, and systems thought extend it to language, society, and knowledge. Structure is not always visible as an object. It is often inferred from the patterns that persist despite changes in individual parts.
Meaning in the imagination economy
AI makes it easy to alter surfaces while leaving the structure of a problem untouched. A new interface may preserve the same hierarchy; faster production may preserve the same scarcity of voice. The imagination economy asks whether we are decorating inherited arrangements or changing the relations that produce them.
What changes in practice
Map who can decide, what depends on what, where value accumulates, and which rules reproduce the present outcome. Change at least one relation—not only an artifact—when claiming structural innovation.
